Use with perspective

Helpful context. Clear boundaries.

CortiLoop is designed to support everyday reflection on activation and recovery. It is not a cortisol test, diagnostic system, treatment tool or emergency service.

If you feel seriously unwell, have concerning symptoms or may be in immediate danger, do not wait for an app or wearable score. Contact local emergency services or a qualified healthcare professional.

What CortiLoop is for

CortiLoop helps adults notice personal patterns across sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, activity and optional check-ins. It may describe an estimated cortisol-related rhythm, physiological load and recovery while clearly labeling those outputs as inferences.

What it must never replace

  • Medical evaluation, diagnosis, laboratory testing or treatment.
  • Advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
  • Emergency assessment or action.
  • Medication, supplement or treatment decisions.
  • Device-specific medical features cleared for a stated clinical purpose.

Wearable data has limits

Consumer devices infer many metrics from optical, motion and other sensor signals. Fit, movement, skin contact, missing data, device algorithms and software updates can affect results. A “stress” or recovery score cannot reliably identify why a signal changed, and it does not directly measure cortisol.

How we keep suggestions conservative

Suggestions stay within low-risk general wellness activities such as rest, gentle movement, paced breathing or appropriately timed outdoor light. CortiLoop does not recommend medication changes, supplements, fasting, extreme cold, breath holds or ignoring symptoms.

When the responsible answer is “we don’t know”

CortiLoop should reduce confidence or withhold an interpretation when data is sparse, stale, inconsistent or contradicted by context. It separates measured signals, details you report and model-generated explanations so uncertainty remains visible.

Report a safety concern

If an explanation or suggestion seems unsafe, misleading or inappropriate, stop using it and email hello@cortiloop.com. Do not include sensitive health details unless they are necessary for your report.
