Questions worth asking.

What CortiLoop can infer, what it cannot know, and how we intend to handle wearable health data responsibly.

Last updated 17 August 2026
Does CortiLoop measure cortisol?

No. Mainstream consumer watches and rings do not directly measure blood or saliva cortisol. CortiLoop may estimate a cortisol-related daily rhythm from associated signals, but it labels that result as an inference—not a hormone reading.

Is CortiLoop a medical device?

CortiLoop is being designed as a general wellness product, not a tool for diagnosis, treatment or emergency decisions. Any future feature with a medical purpose would require separate evaluation and appropriate regulatory handling.

Which signals does it use?

The planned core inputs are sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, activity, workouts and optional short check-ins. Availability and quality depend on the connected device and health platform.

Why does a personal baseline matter?

HRV and related signals differ substantially between people. Your own recent, comparable pattern is usually more useful for a wellness interpretation than a universal target.

What happens when data is missing?

Confidence should fall. CortiLoop is designed to say when it is still learning, when data is stale or incomplete, and when it cannot support a conclusion.

Can CortiLoop tell me why I feel stressed?

Not with certainty. Sleep, exercise, illness, excitement, work, caffeine, alcohol and many other factors can affect similar signals. CortiLoop may present plausible contributors while leaving alternatives visible.

Will it tell me how to lower cortisol?

No. Permanently low cortisol is not the goal. CortiLoop focuses on appropriate activation followed by effective recovery and limits suggestions to conservative general wellness actions.

What devices will be supported?

The initial product direction is Apple Health and Health Connect, using compatible data contributed by connected watches, rings and phones. Final device and metric support will be published before release.

How will my health data be used?

The product is designed to process core health measurements locally where practical, request permissions only when needed and avoid selling health data or using it for advertising. Launch-ready details will be documented in the mobile app privacy policy.

What should I do about concerning symptoms?

Do not rely on CortiLoop or a wearable score. Contact a qualified healthcare professional, or local emergency services if the situation may be urgent.
